Duane Lassiter Choate Duane Lassiter Choate was born on August 9, 1947 in Nashville, Tennessee and passed away peacefully at his home in Tumwater, Wa on March 3, 2014. Duane's dad worked for a company that moved around doing construction, so he changed schools many times. He would say he attended 3 different schools a year. He served in the US Army and was in Thailand and Cambodia as a medic from 1966-67. He leaves behind his wife of forty years, Edie; his children, sons Andrew Barrett, Andy Choate, and Jason Choate; and daughter Mescal McCollum; eight grandchildren and one great-grand child; mother, Eva Choate; sisters, Brenda Young and Wanda McCown, who all live locally, and many great friends whom he loved very much. Papa attended Rochester Life Assembly for 19 years and loved every moment of it. Please join the family Friday March 7, 2014 from 10am- 12pm for a viewing at Mills and Mills Funeral Home in Tumwater. The family is having a celebration of life on Saturday March 8, 2014 at 2:30 at South Sound Manor (old Masonic Temple) 455 North St. SE Tumwater 98501 In lieu of flowers donations can be made at Heritage Bank, in care of the Choate Family Donations account.

I just was so saddened when I heard the passing of such what kind and pleasant man. Always such a friendly voice from the front porch next door after a long trip from my home in SE Washington to visit my daughter who is his next door neighbor. Often he would inquire about how we were and how the trip was ...he was always a pleasant voice and I know that many friends and family will miss him so much. I know that I will.

Ecclesiastes 4:9
The Value of a Friend
9 Two are better than one,
Because they have a good reward for their labor.
10 For if they fall, one will lift up his companion.
But woe to him who is alone when he falls,
For he has no one to help him up.
11 Again, if two lie down together, they will keep warm;
But how can one be warm alone?
12 Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him.
And a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
This is the type of friend Duane was all the time.
I will miss you Friend, I look forward to the time
when we see each other again.
