Mariyln Y. Deuel On January 3, 2014, Marilyn lost her battle with cancer. She was born on September 25, 1935 in Rock Springs, Wyoming to James and Edna Caine. When Marilyn was 9, the family moved to the westside of Olympia, where the family had Garfield Grocery for many years and where she and her sister, Sharon, grew up. Marilyn, known to her classmates as "Pinky", graduated from Olympia High School in 1954. One evening, while dancing at the Evergreen Ballroom, she reconnected with Jerry Deuel, who had grown up in the same Olympia neighborhood as Marilyn. They were married on August 25, 1956 staying in Olympia, where they raised their two children. While employed by the State of Washington for 27 years, Marilyn worked for the Dept. of Natural Resources and the State Patrol as a payroll supervisor, retiring in 1991. Marilyn was always the life of the party with a quick wit and a great sense of humor. But, nothing was more important to her than family and friends and she would do anything for them. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids. Together, Marilyn and Jerry enjoyed bowling, camping, the Seahawks and spending time at their Ocean Shores property. More recently, they added Paddle Wheel at the Eagles, and Bingo at the VFW to their list of favorite things to do. Marilyn is survived by her husband of 57 years, Jerry; daughter, Jeri and grandson, Nick; son, Scott (Sabrina), grandsons Scott (Tanya), James (Rebecca), and Josh: three grandchildren, Kiley, Lincoln, and Madison; sister, Sharon Schultz (Dave); and brother-in-law, Jim Deuel (Sharon). Mom I know you'll be partying with your old friends, who you have missed. At her request, there will be no services.
