Marjorie Guenther Halgren 1921 - 2013 Marge was born under a lucky star. Marge Halgren lived a long and happy life and leaves behind a legacy of love and strength. Both beautiful and smart, she was born and raised in Tacoma with her loving sister, Shirley Sadler, by Hugo and Effie Guenther. Margie was cherished and doted upon by her husband Peter Halgren. She was a devoted mother, a loving grandmother, and great-grandmother. Marge graduated from Stadium High School and then the University of Washington. She was an active lifetime member of Delta Gamma and Mortar Board. After marriage to Pete, and the end of World War II, she began their nomadic corporate life. As she raised her family in a new city every year, she continued to be a beautiful seamstress, wonderful cook, and terrific hostess. Her many civic activities included PTSA, Girl Scouts, and YWCA (chosen Woman of the Year in 1963). Later, she enjoyed a professional life as editor of the Contra Costa News Register. Marge did everything to a high standard. During her retirement in Olympia, she was an expert bridge player, docent for the Governor's mansion, volunteer at Capital Medical Center, member of the Helen Malloy Children's Hospital Guild, the Glass Club and her beloved P.E.O Marge is survived by her son Art; daughter Jan Albright, son in law Doug Albright; granddaughter Kara Smith, her husband Aaron, their sons Logan and Henry; her granddaughter Meredith Gartner, her husband Joe, their daughter Eliza. She is also survived by her sister Shirley Sadler and her beloved nieces and nephews. In the new year there will be a memorial service in Olympia at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.
