Richard L. Dermond, Jr. Rick was born April 30, 1945 in Seattle, Washington, and died November 28, 2013 in Shelton. As a child, he lived on Madrona Beach Road on Eld Inlet, which fostered a lifelong love of all things nautical. He attended Griffin Elementary School and graduated from Olympia High School in 1963. After graduating high school, he proudly enlisted in the US Marine Corps and served 2 tours of duty in Viet Nam where he was wounded. He was a member of Shelton VFW 40 & 8. Rick completed a clock and watch repair course at North Seattle Community College in 1980 and worked in Fargo, ND and Harlingen, TX before opening his own business in Sequim, WA. He eventually had to give up this trade due to declining health. Despite increasing disability, he maintained a positive outlook on life. Rick was preceded in death by his mother, Frances "Kie" Brown, and father, Richard L. Dermond Sr. He is survived by brother, Michael of Shelton, nephew, Jeffrey of Ellensburg and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Special thanks to Jennifer Kocina of Shelton, the helpful residents of Goldsborough Creek Apartments and the dedicated caregivers of Catholic Community Services whose help allowed him to live in the community and pass peacefully at home. No Service is planned.
