Shirley Pari Dallas Jan 18, 1948 - Oct 11, 2013 Shirley Dallas died at home on October 11, 2013 surrounded by family, from ovarian cancer. Shirley was born in 1948 in Waukesha, WI to Joseph and Geraldine Pari. She and her four sisters grew up in the Waukesha countryside. She graduated from Waukesha South H.S. and received her B.A. from the University of Wisconsin and M.A. in Library Science from the University of Washington. Working in Minneapolis, MN she met her future husband, James Dallas. They lived in Salt Lake City, UT for a few years, then spent the next 35 years in Olympia, WA with their two children, Ian and Kate. Shirley worked as a librarian for the State of Washington for 35 years, retiring in 2011. She was known among her friends and family as a seamstress, knitter (many of us wear items made by her), watercolor artist, avid reader and book club member, creative cook, mushroom hunter, hiker and camper, and pilates and Tai chi student. Her dry wit was widely appreciated. She loved exploring the Northwest, the U.S., and exotic locales such as New Zealand, Thailand, and many European countries. There will be a memorial service for Shirley to which all are welcome Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 11:00 am at The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 1601 North St SE, Olympia. Memorial contributions may be made to the Olympia Film Society or to Holden Village.
