Steven Charles Bard Steven Charles Bard, 59, of Evansdale Iowa (formerly of Shelton WA), died Monday, April 8, 2013 at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo Iowa. He was born August 12, 1953 in Waterloo, son of Merle and Donna (Lampert) Bard. He married Mary Chapman on June 21, 1997 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. Steven graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1971. Cpl Bard served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam war era, 1971-1975. Sgt Bard worked at the Washington Corrections Center in Shelton WA for 30 years before medically retiring in 2008. In April 2012, they moved to Waterloo to be closer to his family. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Court 764 Waterloo and of the Moose Lodge 1684 Shelton. He is survived by his Wife, Mary, of Evansdale; Sister, Brenda (Jack) Henninger, of Waterloo; his Mother-in-law, Winnie Rossow of Tumwater; Stepson, David and Janelle Ray, Shelton; four grandchildren, Sean, Leif, Erik, Morgan, and one on the way; nephews, Travis (Molly) Burch and Jared Burch; a niece, Amanda Burch; great niece, Paityn Burch; and brother, Dennis of Nevada, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents; Step-father, John Hoffer; and Father-in-law, Leo Rossow. Steven will be inturned at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, in Waterloo. A Memorial Gathering will be held Monday May 27, 2013 at the Shelton Moose Lodge 1684, 930 W Golden Pheasant Road, Shelton (formerly the Golden Pheasant) from Noon - 3 pm.
