Col. Jay Aaron Daugherty 95, passed away surrounded by his loving family at his home on the morning of July 13. Jay was born in North Little Rock, Arkansas. As a child, Jay moved all around the country as the son of a railroad worker. He continued his travels when he enlisted in the Army Air Corp on Sept. 2, 1941. After three years of distinguished service as an enlisted man and upon graduation from Yale University in June 1944, he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Air Corp. He is one of the honorable few who served his country in WWII, Korean War, and Vietnam War. He completed his distinguished 28 year career in the Air Force in 1969 as the Squadron Commander at Edwards AFB, CA. Upon retirement he and his wife settled in Fairfield, and then moved to Vacaville in 1993. He was a very active member of the Fairfield Baptist Church, and a longtime volunteer at the David Grant Medical Facility. He leaves behind his loving wife of 54 years, Annelora Daugherty; three children and many grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m., Sunday, July 20, at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, 1850 W. Texas St. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 21, at 11 a.m., at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.
