MOUNT VERNON - Dwight "Gene" House, 91, passed away at 1:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013, in Mount Vernon Countryside Manor.

He was born July 15, 1922, in Piggott, Ark., to Guy and Sarah (Plumlee) House.
He married Betty Ann Smith on Nov. 28, 1946, in Mount Vernon. She preceded him in death on Nov. 2, 1994.
Service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, in First Freewill Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, with the Rev. David Shores officating. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
He is survived by two daughters, Gloria Lynn Tincher and husband, Gene of Marion and Jeanne Sanson of Mount Vernon; two grandchildren, Carl Gene Mullinax of Springfield and Cory Tincher of Marion; two great-grandchildren, Oliver and Quentin Mullinax; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two brothers; and five sisters.
Gene served our country in the United States Army during World War II. He worked as a carpenter and owner of Park View Mobile Home Park. Gene was a member of the Mount Vernon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1376 and First Freewill Baptist Church in Mount Vernon.
Memorials may be made to the First Freewill Baptist Church.
