ANNA - James "Ronnie" Guthrie, 70, died at 2:18 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2013, in Union County Hospital in Anna.

He was born June 5, 1942, in Cobden, the son of Bill and Ruth (Darnell) Guthrie, who preceded him in death. He married Judith Ann Toler on May 28, 1976, and she survives.
James served his country honorably in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam War veteran. He was a graduate of Cobden High School and formerly employed by Illinois Central Railroad and Chester Mental Health.
Survivors include his wife, Judith Ann Guthrie of Anna; three children, Mary Jane (Noble) White and Terri (Daniel) Stewart, both of Buncombe, and Jim Prater of Cobden; six grandchildren, Clayton White, Kayla Moll, Casey White, Katie White, Meghan Douglass and Robert Prater; two sisters, Sue (Larry) Greenwood and Kathy (David) Cochran, both of Cobden; brother-in-law, Gary Toler of St. Louis; one niece; nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and cousins.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 25, in Crain Funeral Home, Anna-Jonesboro, with the Rev. Kenneth Mixen officiating. Interment will follow in Anna Cemetery with full military honors by Carroll P. Foster Post 3455, Illinois Honor Guard and Bugles Across America. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
