MULKEYTOWN -- John Cavarretta, 91, passed away at 6 a.m. Jan. 21, 2013, at his home with his loving son at his side.

John was born May 31, 1921, in Royalton to James Vincenzo and Mary (Tem-pera) Cavarretta.
He married Henrietta Morgan on Feb. 26, 1948, in Royalton, and she preceded him in death Jan. 13, 1994.
Survivors include a son, John Cavarretta Jr. of Mulkeytown; brother-in-law, Bill Bell Sr. of Zeigler; and numerous nieces and nephews, including, Mary Ann (Bell) Brandon of Mulkeytown, Bill Bell Jr., Steven Varga, Kitty Cerisi, Bruce Morgan, Barbara Kass, Denise Sidlow and Robert Revak.
He also was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Carmen Revak and Elizabeth Bell; and six brothers, Sam, Frank, Noah, Joe, Vestino and Roy Cavarretta.
Mr. Cavarretta was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a great business-man and farmer.
In accordance with Mr. Cavarretta's wishes, he was cremated. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 5, in St. Aloysius-Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, east of Royalton, with a blessing by Father Sean Palas and mili-tary graveside rites courtesy of Zeigler and Orient American Legions, West Frankfort VFW and Marion National Guard Flag Detail. Family and friends are asked to gather at the cemetery before the services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Cavarretta are suggested to St. Aloysius-Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Royalton or Hospice of Southern Illinois, Inc.
