JOHNSTON CITY - Marguerite C. Barra, Ph.D., 92, passed away at 9:10 p.m. Monday, April 15, 2013, in Life Care Center in Florissant, Mo.

Marguerite was born Feb. 10, 1921, in Johnston City, to Domenick and Anna (Balma) Barra.
Marguerite was retired, having been a college professor at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb for several years, where she taught clothing and textiles. She was a graduate of Northern Illinois University, George Peabody College, Stout State University and Texas Woman's University.
Marguerite was a faithful member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Johnston City.
She enjoyed painting, sewing and reading.
Survivors include her sister, Rose DiSalvo of Florissant; several nephews and nieces, Bill and Reba Barra of Johnston City, Jerry (Mary Beth) DiSalvo of Florissant, Jo (George) DiSalvo-Keller of St. Louis and Tony DiSalvo Jr. of Florissant; several great-nephews and great-nieces, Tony, Mike, Nicki, Joey, Marissa, Miranda DiSalvo and Erica Lampley; and one great-great-nephew, Luke Lampley.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Ned Barra.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 20, in St. Paul's Catholic Church in Johnston City, with Father Richard Mohr officiating. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City.
