CARBONDALE - Pru Crews, 73, died at 4:55 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012, at her home.

She was born Nov. 2, 1938, in Kapuskasing, Ontario, Canada, daughter of Walter and Ethel (Osburn) Menzies.
She married Wendell Crews on Aug. 28, 1964. He preceded her in death Sept. 16, 2010.
She graduated from Alabama College and received her master's degree from Tulane University. She was an active member of the Friends of Carbondale Library. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Carbondale where she served as president of United Methodist Women. She was on the administrative board and served on the council on ministries. She was formally employed as the secretary of First Baptist Church in Carbondale and prior to that, secretary at Lakeland Baptist Church in Carbondale.
She is survived by a daughter, Kim Malone of Martin, Tenn.; a son, Steven (Lisa) Crews of Union City, Tenn.; grandchildren, Dustin Malone, Leah Crews and Shelby Crews; two brothers, Robert Menzies of San Antonio and Nicholas Menzies of Sylacauga, Ala.; two sisters, Stephanie Menzies and Deborah Rogers of Sylacauga, Ala.; and nieces, nephews and many friends.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 29, in Grace United Methodist Church in Carbondale, with the Rev. Bob Sabo, pastor, and the Rev. Stephen Combs officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Grove Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28, in Crain Pleasant Grove-Murdale Funeral Home and Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois and/or Grace United Methodist Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
