CARBONDALE - Richard (Dick) C. Kerwath, 81, died April 29, 2011, in Troy, Mich.

Dick was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. H.C. Kerwath of Carbondale and graduated from Carbondale High School in 1947.
Beloved Husband and Father, he was survived by Ruth, his wife of 60 years and she has now passed away Feb. 5, 2013.
He is survived by six children, Mark, Chuck (Pauline), Karen (William) Lukianoff, Christi (Paul) Travis, Scott, and Robert (Amanda). He was a loving brother to Joann Cecil and brother-in-law to Helen Naumer; cherished grandfather of seven and great-grandfather of six; uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Dick had a distinguished Navy career and, in addition to being a decorated Navy officer, was a Veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars.
After his military retirement, he went on to a successful 23-year career at General Motors ultimately settling in the Detroit, Mich., area. Dick was an active mentor to small business owners through SCORE Service Core of Retired Executives and was a positive influence in the lives of many people.
Dick was laid to rest May 3, 2011, with military honors in Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Mich., and is greatly missed by his family and friends.
