WEST FRANKFORT - Thomas N. Little, 73, passed away at 2:55 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013, at home with his family by his side.

He was born July 25, 1940, to Horace and Thomasine (Elwood) Little in West Frankfort, and they preceded him in death.
Tom was a graduate of Frankfort Community High School class of 1958. He attended Southern Illinois University Carbondale and then joined the Army Reserves in 1962, serving six years.
In 1965, he joined the Illinois State Police, where he served District 9, ISP Academy and District 13. In 1993, he retired as a vehicle investigation specialist.
Tom loved to serve his community. He was a POC firefighter for West Frankfort Fire Department for 22 years, he served as Franklin County deputy coroner for 20 years, and he was a 20-year West Frankfort Lions Club member. He also was a 32nd degree Master Mason and recently received his 50-year membership pin.
He had been a Fraternal Order of Police member since 1970 and also was a member of First Christian Church. He served as West Frankfort codes officer from 1996 to 1999 and was FCHS hall monitor from 1999 to 2002. He served on the 911 board from 2002 to 2006 and on Frankfort Township Board since 2009.
Tom had a love for radios and technology and was known by friends in the amateur radio community as WA9BOT. He loved his dogs, Gulf Shores, Ala., and going to Busch Stadium to see the Cardinals play.
Survivors include his wife, Judy DeLap-Little; sons, Justin (Melissa) DeLap of Columbia, Mo., and Charley Little of Springfield; daughters, Jessica (Thomas) Rude of Marion and Shelly Dugan of Pesotum; grandchildren, Michael Thomas DeLap, Joshua DeLap, Jade Dugan, Ethan Dugan, Evan Kirksey, Kiersten Little and Hayden Little; brother-in-law, Gene Forgatch; nieces and nephews, Steve Forgatch, Beth Conner, Todd Forgatch, Amy Forgatch-Siefert and Jay Forgatch.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16, in Union Funeral Home in West Frankfort with Pastor Jason Ishmael officiating. Burial will be in Tower Heights Cemetery in West Frankfort. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, at the funeral home. Masonic rites, conducted by Frankfort Lodge 567, will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home
