Charles (Rick) Henry Pickett, age 68, passed away unexpectedly, following a short illness, January 9, 2014. He was born October 17, 1945 in St. George, Utah to Betty Rae Faggianni and Charles Morris Pickett.

Rick attended Dixie High School, graduating in 1963. After high school Rick joined the military, serving in the Special Forces in Vietnam. Upon his return he attended Dixie State College, the University of Utah, and Indiana University, Bloomington, eventually earning a Masters degree in Opera and performing arts.

Rick married Sherly Anderson of Salt Lake City and had two sons, Tyler and Terrell. They were later divorced.

Rick married the love of his life and soul mate, Ruth (Decker) Pickett, in Murray, Utah on May 19, 1990. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the LDS Salt Lake City Temple on December 3, 1998.

Rick and Ruth spent many years in Bountiful, Utah raising their family before returning to Dixie in 2005. They went through many trials together and came out stronger and more in love than ever. They also had many fun travels and adventures, and laughed easily together.

Rick performed in many plays, concerts and programs. He had a passion for music and the performing arts. While living in Salt Lake and Bountiful he was a member of the Tabernacle Choir and the Utah Opera Company. He performed at Pioneer Memorial Theater and Rodgers Memorial Theater. While residing in St. George he performed with the St. George Musical Theater, Tuachan, and The St. George Heritage Choir.

Rick was a faithful and devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was currently serving as ward choir director, which he loved. He was very kind and outgoing, making friends everywhere he went. He laughed easily and loud.

Rick is survived by his sweetheart, Ruth (Decker) Pickett of Dammeron Valley; his sons, Tyler and Terrell Pickett of Salt Lake City, Utah; stepdaughters, Rebecca Ellis of Ogden, UT, Christina (Jeremy) Wallace of Mountain Green, UT, Shaela (Chad) Livingston of Bountiful, UT, Miranda (Gary) Stumph of Taylorsville, UT; 9 grandchildren whom Rick adored, Ammon, Gabe, Savannah, Alex, Micah, Hope, Grayson, Amarah, and little Charlie; and by his half sister, Sharlene Pickett of St. George.
