Val Stanton Edgel

Cedar City, Utah

Our wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend Val Stanton Edgel, age 91, passed away with his wife by his side on April 30, 2013. He was born on August 12, 1921 in South Jordan, Utah to Franklin James and Florence Mildred Adelaide Warner Edgel. Val loved his county and served over in Europe with the Army during WWII where he received a purple heart. On November 7, 1947 he married the love of his life Alta Eldredge in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Val was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he was deeply religious and loved serving others in any way that he could. He enjoyed his horses and letting his grandchildren ride them. He loved being with his family, spending time with them and enjoying their company. Most of all he loved being with his wife.

Val is survived by his wife Alta Edgel. His children; Valta Norman, Irene Stratton, Dawn Browne, Aleta Wood, Val Stanton Edgel II, Mara Hunt, Lael Gum and Martin Edgel.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Cedar City 19th Ward located at 1177 West Greens Lake Drive, Cedar City, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to the services at the Church on Saturday from 12:30-1:30 pm. Interment will be in the Cedar City Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
