Walter Albert Edwards

Enoch, Utah

Walter Albert Edwards passed away on December 25, 2013 at his home in Enoch, UT surrounded by his family. He was born February 3, 1927 in Bayfield, CO to Allison Albert and Eva Hanna Swift Edwards. He married Virginia Elaine Phillips on July 3, 1959 in Carlsbad, NM. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on October 2, 1969.

After Walter received his high school diploma from Bayfield High, in Bayfield, Colorado, he served our country in the United States Army during WWII in Japan. He was in the Military Police. He worked as a plumber for Southern Utah University and taught an apprenticeship plumbing course there also. He liked to hunt and fish. He loved to visit family in Texas, Colorado and New Mexico. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served as a Bishop in Gillette, WY, a cannery worker and a Genealogy worker.

Walter is survived by his son, Jerry Albert Edwards (Dana) of Enoch, UT, seven grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, his brother, Roger Edwards of Durango, CO and his sister Emma Tourville of Denver, CO. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Elaine Edwards, his son Gary Micheal Edwards, his parents, a stepson, Larry Turner, grandparents and brother Fancis Edwards.

Services will be Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at 11:00 am at Enoch 4th Ward Building. Viewings will be Monday, December 30, 2013 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Southern Utah Mortuary and on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 from 9:30-10:30 am at the Enoch 4th Ward. Interment will be at the Enoch Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary. Online condolences can be sent to
