CLAUS HEINRICH KELLING Of Brooklin, ON, died on Friday, January 31, 2014 at the age of 87. He was born on December 13, 1926 in Manila, Philippines, to the late Karl and Margarethe Kelling. Claus emigrated from Germany to Canada in 1951 and was soon followed by his late wife Helga and his other family members, including his late twin brother Joachim, his sister-in-law Sonja Kelling and his late sister Renate. Claus was a longtime employee of General Motors in Oshawa and lived in the same house in Brooklin for 49 years. He was a tireless worker, a loyal husband and a good father. When he wasn't working in or around the house, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and fly tying. Claus is survived by his son Bryan and Bryan's two children Matthew and Rebecca Kalant-Kelling and his daughter Karen and son-in-law Tim and their two children Claudia and Anneka Kindrachuk. In his later years after Helga's death, Claus was appreciative of the support he received from family, friends and his wonderful neighbours, whose assistance enabled him to continue to live in his house until his death. We will all miss him. Family and friends are invited to a reception celebrating Claus's life on Saturday, February 8, 2014 from 1-3 p.m. at Barnes Memorial Funeral Home, 5295 Thickson Rd. N., Whitby, 905-655-3662.
