EARL SOUTH On Thursday, March 7, 2013 at The Village of Tansley Woods, Burlington in his 90th year. Born in Toronto, lived in Oakville from 1957-1988 then retired to Coldwater and Tea Lake. He hauled Ford cars out of Oakville to Buffalo, NY and Detroit, MI as well as Ontario during his working days. He joined the 2nd Battalion Irish Regiment of Canada in 1941 and served in the militia at Fort York Armouries. In 1942 he joined the active army and served in the RCA and RCEME. The four years were served in G Force of the Atlantic Command and was stationed for part of the war at Goose Bay, Labrador on a US air force base in an anti-aircraft artillery battery. He spent the last part of the war in a RCEME workshop at Debert, NS where they repaired army vehicles. He was discharged in 1946. He and his wife Pat had four children and five grandchildren. They were married since June 4, 1949 until Pat's death on May 21, 1994 just two weeks short of 45 years together . Loving father of Linda (Ray) Munroe of Waterdown, Bruce (Elizabeth) South of Brentwood, Tennessee, Craig (Andrea) South of Oakville and Michael (Jenifier) South of Calgary. Cherished grandfather of Carrie-Lynn (Rob) Stanfield, Andrea (Josh) Laver, Rachel South, Connor South and Samantha South and great- grandfather of Gabriel, Luke, Mia and Annaliese. Loving friend and companion of Agnes Buker for 16 years; they lived happily together in Burlington. Dear brother of Murray (late Helen) South of Plymouth, Michigan. Earl is predeceased by his wife Patricia (nee Elsasser) and his parents Albert and Marion South. Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stoplight north of QEW), Burlington, 905-632-3333, on Monday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at St. Paul's United Church, 454 Rebecca Street, Oakville, on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. Private interment Coldwater Cemetery, Coldwater, ON.
