MARILYN JOYCE CONVERY (nee HEBB) February 11, 1929 - February 19, 2013 With deep sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of Marilyn Joyce Convery, daughter of Nora Hebb and MACIntosh Hebb, on February 19, 2013. She slipped away peacefully, gracefully, with the dignity that she embodied, at home with her loving husband at her side. She had just celebrated her 84th birthday at home with seafood, chocolate cake and a few laughs despite her weakened state. Marilyn was deeply loved by her husband of 59 years, Frank and the incredibly inspirational mother of Mark (Lari-Ann), Steven (Nancy), Michael (Karen) and Lynn Bestari (Jim). She was the cherished sister to her deceased brother, Thomas (Buddy) Hebb of Halifax, NS and surviving brother Robert (Bobby) Hebb of Lunenburg, NS. Marilyn was adored by her grandchildren Lorelle, Callan, Istiana, Donovan, Andrew, Jaime, Jack, Aidan and her nieces and nephews in Nova Scotia, Florida and Massachusetts. All will miss her deeply. Born in Halifax, Marilyn lived her adult life in Toronto but remained enthusiastically proud of her Nova Scotia roots. It was always with glee and great anticipation that she planned the next lobster feed with the family. Married on September 11, 1954, during Hurricane Hazel, she spent her married life being the consummate homemaker, wonderful wife and perfect mother to her 4 children; always loving, always supportive and always there. Marilyn's approach to life was to be curious and never stop learning. She loved reading, listening to music and entertaining her grandchildren. She often giggled like a child at her own stories and jokes. She dedicated her life and energy to family, friends and community service and spent many years volunteering for various causes. She showed remarkable strength and courage as she battled and conquered both lung and breast cancer in 1994 and went on to live a full and rich life until the last few months when her strength began to diminish with the burden of severe respiratory illness. In accordance with her wishes, a family service will take place in the coming days. Donations in her memory would be appreciated and may be made to Canadian Tire Jumpstart, 2180 Yonge Street, PO Box 770, Station K, Toronto, Ontario M4P 2V8 (jumpstart.canadiantire.ca) or the charity of your choice.
