SAM (BIG SAM) KOTZER We are greatly saddened by the passing of Sam Kotzer on March 3, 2013. He passed away peacefully at home. Born in Toronto in 1925, Sam loved people and loved life. He began his career in the toy business as a young teenager and accomplished many things during his long career. Sam founded and created "Samko Toy Warehouse" and was very generous in giving to others. Sam was a larger than life character, always ready with a joke and a smile; he could win your heart. The Canadian toy industry celebrated his success by inducting him into the "Toy Hall of Fame". He was a past President of the CNE. For decades, Sam volunteered at the YMHA helping others to stay healthy. He was a key supporter of the Santa Claus Parade and through the toy warehouse, donated to many fundraisers that enabled many schools and organizations to raise funds for their causes. Sam was a supporter of Toronto Police and Firefighters through "toy drives". Big Sam will be greatly missed by his loving family: wife Betty; children Michael and Wendy, Howie and Phyllis, Sheryl and Paul, Eric and Terry; his grandchildren, David, Emma, Alex, Jake, Dylan, Jessica, Sean and Andrew; and his siblings, Morris (the late) Doreen, Evelyn and Grace. Funeral services Tuesday, March 5th at 11:30 a.m. at Benjamin's Park Memorial Chapel, 2401 Steeles Ave. W., Toronto.
