TAUNO MIKKO KOSKI April 13, 1916 - July 1, 2014 Tauno Mikko Koskimies (Koski) passed peacefully at his home in Pottageville, Ontario, on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at the age of 98 years. Born in Sakkijarvi, Finland, Tauno immigrated to Canada in 1927 with his parents, Amanda and Mikko; and younger brother, Valto (Walter), all deceased. After being raised in Northern Ontario bush country (Nemegos) and later earning certificates in many trades in Chicago, Illinois, he became a master builder, ending his career with Olympia and York in Toronto, Ontario. He enlisted in the army at the onset of WWII and served Canada overseas as a lance corporal in the signal corps. Jessie Cowan Thomson of Chapleau, Ontario, became his wife on August 31, 1940. Tauno felt he had found "one of a kind", the perfect life-mate, in Jessie and deeply mourned her passing in 1993. Tauno will be deeply missed by his three children, Bill (Beth), Marilyn (Peter) and Sheila (Tom, deceased); 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and his faithful golden retriever, Caesar. His first "golden" companion, Charlie, passed in 2007 and is waiting for his walk in heaven with Tauno.
