WILLIAM HOWARD KENT WEST We are blessed to have shared our lives with our wonderful Husband, Father and Grandfather, who died suddenly and peacefully in his 84th year on January 9, 2014. Beloved husband for 62 years of Beverly Brockett. Loving father of Sandra (Robert Short), Gordon (Pam) and Carol (Shawn O'Brien) and much loved grandfather of Alison and Robyn Short; Kyle, Scott and Leah West; Timothy and Shannon O'Brien. Brother of the late John T. West (Betty deceased) and Patricia (Gordon Cameron). Brother-in-law to Glenn Brockett (Evelyn deceased) and Donald Brockett (Shelley). Cherished uncle of 14 nieces and nephews. Born on April 14, 1930 to Howard West and Grace Kent and step-son to Majorie Robbins, Bill was raised in Toronto and attended University of Toronto Schools (1948). He was a longtime resident of Clarkson, the founder of Strongbar Industries, a devoted and active member of Christ Church Clarkson, a Charter member of the Rotary Club of Mississauga West and a two time recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow Award. Despite physical challenges, Bill always maintained a positive outlook. More than anything he loved time spent with his family and friends recounting stories of times past with a favourite golden retriever by his side. He often spoke of how blessed he was, but it was those he knew and loved who were truly blessed. Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Peel Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St. (Hwy. 10, N. of QEW), Mississauga, on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Christ Church United, 1700 Mazo Crescent, Clarkson, on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at 11 a.m. If desired, remembrances may be made to Christ Church United, Clarkson; b.r.a.i.n.child, c/o SickKids Hospital Foundation; or the Rotary International Foundation.
