McAusland, Clarance Crawford
The Guest Book is expired.
It is with great sadness that the family of Clarance Crawford McAusland announces his passing on December 14, 2013. Clarance was born on the farm south of Melfort, Saskatchewan on August 14, 1919. He married Muriel Alice Hadden of Okotoks, Alberta, on July 10, 1946. Clarance was a quiet, gentle man with a twinkle in his eye. He was proud to be a farmer and described it as a good way of life. For many years, he raised purebred Shorthorn and Aberdeen Angus cattle and was a member of the Canadian Seed Growers Association. He loved nature and when he was older, he spent many hours feeding and watching the birds. Clarance was always interested in history. He was proud of his heritage and his Scottish and Ontario ancestors. He had a keen memory and was happy to share his knowledge of local history. Clarance was an active member of the Masonic Lodge and the Melfort Rotary Club. His grandchildren gave him great pleasure and he closely followed their activities and achievements. Clarance was predeceased by his infant sister Lily Christina, his mother Charlotte (née Robson), his father Crawford McAusland, his sister Eleanor Reeder, his brother Herbert McAusland, and his daughter Patricia McWilliams. He will be fondly remembered by his daughters Frances (Arthur) Westlund, Marian (David) Kettlewell, and Jan McAusland; his grandchildren Laura (Peter) Patko, Adrienne Westlund, Ian (Almuth) McWilliams, Heather (Cameron Hutchings) McWilliams, Clare Kettlewell, Christopher McAusland, Susan McAusland; and his great-grandchildren Austin McAusland and Daniel McWilliams. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Melfort United Church. If so desired, memorial donations may be made to The Rotary Foundation (www.rotary.org/myrotary/en/give-0). Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to The Melfort Funeral Home, (306) 752-2714.
