September 8, 1926 - December 30, 2013
It is with great sadness and sense of loss that we announce the passing of our dear Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt, and Friend. Mom was predeceased by her parents and by siblings Lennox, Lawrence, Ross, Clayton, Thyra and Glenna. She was also predeceased by her husband Donald (Duffy) and son Earl. She is survived by her children Diane Connor, Maxine Terlesky (Gerry), Beverly MacDonald, Dennis MacDonald, Dale MacDonald and Donald (Duff) MacDonald. She is also survived by 10 Grandchildren: Earle (Stephanie) Connor, Chuck (Joy) Terlesky, Josh Holder, Jenny (Jackson) Holder, Liza (Michelle) Holder, Crystal (Nolan) Khadiken, Ryan (Catrina) MacDonald, Shauna (Kyla) MacDonald, Jessie MacDonald and Nathan (Allana) MacDonald. Mom has 6 great grandchildren: Kyryn, Kathrine, Georgia, Dylan, Joel, Charlie and Isabella. She is also survived by her brother Oliver Ramage.
Mom grew up in the small town of Star City. She was from a large family of 8 children. Mom loved to skate and was a great figure skater. She also loved to dance and was said to be the best dancer in town. She completed Grade 12 and went on to train as a teacher. She began her teaching career at age 19. Mom's students remember her as the best teacher they ever had. She taught gymnastics, dance, art and drama to every student going through her class. Mom met Dad while teaching in Kinistino, fell in love and married soon after. They moved to Watson and raised their seven children. Mom taught school for 37 years before she retired. Mom was a fun loving happy person, and anyone who knew her was affected by her humour and quick wit. We grew up in a house full of music and laughter. As some of us kids began to leave home, Mom began to oil paint, started pottery, stained glass, quilting and any other craft that interested her. Mom loved camping and she and Dad had a trailer at Marean Lake for many years. They also loved to skidoo and always enjoyed winter weather. Mom continued to walk a mile a day, bike, clog (tap dance) and cross country ski until she was 86. Mom loved all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren with a passion. She travelled far and wide to cheer them on in all of their endeavors. We will all miss you Mom - your friends, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and in-laws. Martens Warman Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements. The funeral will be held at 2:00 pm, January 25, 2014 at Grace Westminster United Church with Daryl Woods officiating. In lieu of flowers please send donations to St. Paul's Palliative Care Unit, 1702 20th St. W., Saskatoon or The Watson United Church. Also special thanks to our sister Diane Connor who tirelessly cared for Mom in the last months of her battle with cancer.
