Joe (Thomas Joseph) Guina
It is with great sadness that the family of Joe Guina announce his passing on May 13, 2013. Joe was born on the family farm near Radisson on June 23, 1925, the second child of Thomas and Teresa Guina. Due to his father's passing he left Twin Lakes School to take over the family farm at a young age. In 1952, Joe married Lorraine Ehr from Vanscoy who was the young school teacher at Twin Lakes School at the time. Together they raised five children and he is survived by Eileen Eby (Peter Norman) and children, Catherine (Mark Dyer), Tricia and daughter Madison and Justin; Diane (Rob Williams) and children Nicole (Mark Del Frari) and daughter Calla; Bryce; Shaun; and Jenna (Brett Willis); Ron (Cindy) and children Rory, Chase and Leigh; Duane and daughters Sarah, Lynn and Danielle; and Lynn (Blair McCann). He was predeceased by sisters Eileen and Margaret. Joe and Lorraine enjoyed 42 years of marriage. After Lorraine's passing Joe was lucky to find love for a second time with Eleanor Chovin and they enjoyed 17 wonderful years of marriage. Joe is also survived by Eleanor and her family to whom he was very close; Debbie (Dan Kowalski) and Randy (Sandra) and daughters Marlie; Tenay (Cody Diggins); Brittany (Justin Heibert); and Brooklynn. Joe enjoyed his grandchildren and was delighted to meet his two new great- granddaughters. He loved to travel with Eleanor and other family members. Some of his travels took him to England, Ireland, Germany, Mexico, Costa Rica, Alaska and California. His passion for playing golf remained with him until very recently. Joe was an easy-going, humble man with a good sense of humor and his faith was very important to him. Joe died peacefully with Eleanor and his family at his side. He will be dearly missed. Prayers will be at The Saskatoon Funeral Home (338 - 4th Ave. N) on Friday May 17 at 7:00 p.m. and the Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady Of Lourdes Catholic Church in Saskatoon (corner of 12th St. East and Wiggins Ave., attached to Bishop Murray School) at 10:30 a.m. Saturday May 18. Burial will take place at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday at Radisson Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to ones charity of choice.
