John Arthur Edge
John (Jack) Edge passed from this life April 01, 2014 at Saskatoon City Hospital in the presence of his family. He was born October 06, 1922, to Samuel and Estella Edge on the family farm in the Bonnie View District near Loreburn, Saskatchewan. He attended Bonnie View School and was active in the United Church at Bonnie View and Loreburn. Upon his father's death in 1943, John and his mother continued to operate the farm. In 1948 he married school teacher, Mary Vogelsang, and together they farmed until her passing in 2004. He continued to live and work on the farm he loved until 2013 when he moved to Saskatoon. John is predeceased by his wife, Mary, his sisters Ialean (Raymond) Ector and Viola (Archie) Ector, his grandson Steven Edge and Steven's wife, Shelagh Newsham Edge. Left to cherish his memory are his children Ken (Charlotte), Marilyn (Dale) Firth, and Grant (Kelly); grandchildren Leanne Svaren, Jennifer (Andrew) Ouellette, Erin Firth, Bryan Firth, Michael Edge (Tessa) and Melissa Edge; great-grandchildren Lacey and MaKenna Svaren; Hayden, Lauren and Alex Ouellette. He is also survived by his sister, Edna Cameron, sister-in-law Eleanor (Helmut) Thomsen and numerous nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will take place at Bethel Lutheran Church, Elbow, Sask. on Monday, April 07 at 2 p.m. with a private family Interment to follow at the Loreburn cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts will be gratefully received for the Loreburn Town and Country Club, The Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of one's choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Outlook Funeral Chapel.
