Roy Edler Knipfel
Roy Edler Knipfel passed away Tuesday, March 18th in Saskatoon. He was born January 6, 1938 in Swift Current to Edler and Grace. He grew up in Moose Jaw with his siblings Denise, Earl and Judy.
Roy leaves behind his wife Judy, sons Brock, Todd, Earl, Danny, and daughter Vonda, along with their families. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the loves of his life and he treasured every moment he spent with them.
Roy's career as a school teacher was a natural fit as he truly loved being with young people in the classroom and coaching numerous teams. His career began at Riverview in Moose Jaw and continued to Shell Lake and Rockglen. He and his family have many great memories of the years they lived in Shell Lake and spending summers at Memorial Lake. Roy had a generous heart and was always willing to help others in need or less fortunate. He would never pass up a garage sale or a stray dog. Our family would like to thank everyone at Stensrud Lodge for your years of kindness and compassion you showed Roy. Special thanks to Donald Graf who was with Roy through his last years caring for and being a great friend. For many years Roy suffered from bipolar disorder and it is our hope and his that the stigma of this disorder be erased so others will seek help. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Dube Centre for Mental Health at RUH. The family will hold a celebration of Roy's life at a later date.
