The death of Vera Brown occurred on June 18, 2013 in Saskatoon at the age of 72 due to complications from invasive breast cancer. Vera loved her family dearly, and is survived by her son Daryl (Colleen) of Saskatoon and her daughter Shari of Vancouver, as well as her beloved grandchildren Britni, Kyle and Eliza. She was predeceased by her husband Everett in 1997. After Teachers' College, Vera married Everett Brown of Vancouver and lived in Edmonton and Calgary before returning to Saskatoon. To Vera, life was an adventure, and she was always looking forward to new places, new people, and new experiences. Her career included Sasktel, J. Klassen Jewelry Wholesalers, Canada Manpower, Revenue Canada Excise, Unemployment Insurance, Canada Post, D.R.E.E., Revenue Canada Taxation, Sask Horse Racing Commission, and a number of others. Vera had a lifelong love of reading, and of languages. She volunteered with the Jazz Festival and also as a translator. After the death of her husband, Vera moved to B.C., where she enjoyed helicopter rides, parasailing, and working for the R.C.M.P. in Kelowna at the Glenmore Community Policing Office. At her request, Vera will be cremated and a private family Memorial Service will be held.
