Born in Northampton, son of the late Wassyl and Elsie Lucia Leshishyn, he was a member of St. Lucy's Church, educated in Whitehall public schools, and a graduate of Whitehall High School and Moravian College, where he received an education degree. Bruce was a professor of English at East Stroudsburg University and was an Army veteran, having enlisted during the Vietnam War. The family would like to thank the Hospice of the Sacred Heart for the compassionate care they showed to Bruce throughout his illness.
