Bruce Harvey, 63, a lifelong resident of Scranton, died Thursday at home after a lengthy illness. He and his wife, the former Jenyne Engle McHale, celebrated their second wedding anniversary on Jan. 23.

Son of the late John Ted and Doris Jordan Harvey, he was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School, and received an associate degree in business administration from Lackawanna College. He attended Our Father's House and was a Vietnam veteran, having served with the Army's 173rd Airborne Brigade. He was a member of the American Legion, Friends of the Forgotten, the Wingnuts of Florida, the Firemen's Good Will Club and the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 60. Before retirement, he served as a member of the Scranton Fire Department.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will be deeply missed. He was an avid motorcyclist and enjoyed playing poker, hunting, golfing, dancing and karaoke. He enjoyed a practical joke and had a great sense of humor.

Also surviving are a son, Jason Harvey and wife, Danielle, Scranton; a daughter, Christine Harvey, Scranton; two grandchildren, Joshua Brian and Owen Joseph Harvey, both of Scranton; brothers and sisters, Gail McDermott and husband, Clem, Illinois; Teddy Harvey and wife, Connie, Moosic; Linda Ace and husband, Robert, Lake Ariel; Don Harvey and wife, Nancy, Old Forge; and Janice Puchalski and husband, Bill, Avoca; nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Brian Harvey.

The funeral will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Miller Bean Funeral Home Inc., 436 Cedar Ave., Scranton, with services by the Rev. Bob Walls, pastor of Our Father's House. Entombment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.

Friends may call Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Road, South Abington Twp., PA 18411.
