Byron W. Dennis, 79, of Peckville passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, May 7. His beloved wife, Frances Ann Ciance Dennis, passed away in 1992.

Born in Peckville, he was the son of the late Levingston and Myral Tressler Dennis. Byron attended Blakely High School and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of the VFW Shopa-Davey Post 6082 in Peckville. He retired from Consolidated Freightways, Teamsters Local Union 229, in 1995.
Byron loved spending time with his family. He also enjoyed caring for horses, fishing and gardening. He was a generous and compassionate man who brought joy and humor to the lives he touched. Our Poppa will be forever missed, and his memory eternally cherished.
He is survived by his brother Bud (Levingston), New York; three sons, Mick and wife, Donna, Peckville; David and wife, Jesi, Colorado; and Bobby and wife, Wendy, Blakely; three daughters, Karyn Shade, Pittsburgh; Lee Anne, Archbald; and Lorena Scopelliti and husband, Rick, Archbald; 20 grandchildren and two great-grandsons.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Mick and George; and two sisters, Vivian Pitoniak and Wanda.
The funeral will be Monday with Mass at 9:30 a.m. at Christ the King Parish, St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Arhcbald. Interment will be at Valley View Memorial Park in Montdale. Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Robert E. Decker Funeral Home, 702 River St., Peckville. Family and friends are asked to go directly to the church on the morning of the funeral.
