Charles Edward Irvine, of Sun City West, Ariz., formerly of Staten Island, N.Y., and Waverly, Pa., died peacefully, one week after his 89th birthday.

Born in Staten Island, N.Y., he was a graduate of New York University and Wagner College. He served in the U.S. Navy Air Corps during World War II. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a systems analyst with Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. in New York City and Clarks Summit for 31 years.

Charlie was an avid golfer, and also enjoyed woodworking and various hobbies.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Rose (Prochaska) Irvine, Sun City West; a son, William, Phoenix, Ariz.; daughter and son-in-law, Claire and James Davis, Clarks Green, Pa.; and a sister, Elsie Sheer, Staten Island, N.Y.

A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
