Christopher James Kanuik, 31, of Peckville, died Wednesday in Avalon, N.J.

Born in Scranton, son of Doug and Renee Nanni Kanuik, with whom he resided, he was a graduate of Valley View High School and Penn State University, where he received a degree in economics. He was employed in Philadelphia in the financial district and more recently worked for Stafursky Blacktopping. He was a former member of SS. Cyril and Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church in Olyphant.

Christopher was a kind, loving and thoughtful son, brother, grandson and nephew. One of the very best God could lend. He enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved to travel and spend time with his many close friends whom he loved dearly. He touched everyone's life in a very special way that will never be forgotten.

Also surviving are a brother, Logan Kanuik, at home; a maternal grandmother, Romayne Nanni, Peckville; a paternal grandmother, Marian Kanuik, Blakely; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was also preceded in death by a maternal grandfather, Amerigo "Mercy" Nanni; and a paternal grandfather, Edward "Peanuts" Kanuik.

The funeral will be Monday from the James M. Margotta Funeral Home, 1019 Main St., Peckville, with Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. in SS. Cyril and Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church, Olyphant. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
