Edward S. Preitz of Clarks Summit died Monday morning in the Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. He and his wife, the former Linda Gill, celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary May 2.

Born in Scranton, son of the late Edward and Catherine Wesneski Preitz, he was educated in Scranton schools, was a 1963 graduate of West Scranton High School and Johnson School of Technology, class of 1966, and also attended Penn State University. He served in the Naval Reserve as a data systems petty officer from 1981 until 1986. Before retirement, he was the owner and manager of Northeast Laser Life of Clarks Summit.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. His two grandchildren were truly his inspiration and kept him upbeat throughout his illness. A man of many interests, Ed was very talented with anything mechanical and especially a gifted craftsman, specializing in woodworking. A car enthusiast, he enjoyed working on and showing his 1967 Firebird and 1984 Dodge truck. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Ed's family would like to especially thank the staff of Hospice of the Sacred Heart for the love and care Ed received and for allowing him to end his journey with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease with dignity and grace.
Also surviving are a daughter, Pamela Sullivan, Scranton; grandchildren, Eryn and Jimmy Sullivan, Scranton; a brother, Paul Preitz, Taylor; sisters-in-law, Coralee Harmer, Scranton; and Cherie English and husband, John, Scranton; nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Thursday from the Carl J. Savino Funeral Home, 157 S. Main Ave., Scranton, with services at 10 a.m. by the Rev. Lester Stephenson, pastor of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church of Scranton. Interment, Milwaukee Cemetery, Ransom Twp.
Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m.
