Francis (Frank) R. Lane, Honesdale, died Monday at home at the age of 77, surrounded by his family. His wife of 51 years is the former Dorothy (Dottie) Corcoran. The couple married August 19, 1961.

Born in Cherry Township, Pa., he was the son of the late James and Mary Lane of Dushore. He graduated from St. Basil's High School, and then served two years in the Army in Germany before graduating from Mansfield State College with a degree in History. After a brief period in the Air Force, he transferred to the Army Signal Corps for his career, serving tours of duty in Korea and Vietnam, and earning a Bronze Star as well as numerous other awards and medals, before retiring as a Major in 1979. Frank then returned with his family to Northeastern Pa., where he worked for Dodson Insurance Group for many years. After his retirement from Dodson, he enjoyed being a courier for The Dime Bank.
Frank loved to travel; with the military and on vacations with his family, Frank visited all 50 states and 35 countries. He was a member and past President of Honesdale Rotary, and was a recipient of the Paul Harris Award. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, where he served as a lector and a member of the Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration Chapel. He also enjoyed playing golf, and was proud of his hole-in-one.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Coleen (Bill) Tuman, Honesdale; Suzanne Lane (Brett Flehinger), Cambridge, Mass.; Betsy Lane (Sam Woody), Elkton, Va.; and Andy (Brian) Chapman, Lake Ariel; and his grandchildren, Andrew Lane-Lawless; Matthew, Sara and Caroline Tuman; Cameron Lane-Flehinger; and Alex and Jamie Chapman. He is also survived by his brother, Michael Lane of Maryland; and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Mary Czygier, James Lane, Jerome Lane and Catherine Minier.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 26 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Honesdale. Interment with full military honors will be in St. John's Cemetery.
