Gregory Lenhardt, 66, a resident of the Hideout in Lake Ariel, died Saturday morning under the care of the VNA Hospice Inpatient Unit at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton.

Born on Sept. 7, 1947, and raised in Harlem, N.Y., Gregory served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He retired with more than 20 years of service as a New York City firefighter.

An avid photographer, he was also a jazz fanatic, who enjoyed playing the flute and keyboard. He will be dearly missed by all of those who loved him.

He is survived by two beloved sons, Gregory and Chad Lenhardt, both of Frederick, Md.; his significant other of 44 years, Linda Joyner; his brothers, retired Army Gen. Alfonso Lenhardt and wife, Jackie, Alexandria, Va.; and Dorian Lenhardt, New York City; and four grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Michelle Mackie.
