John "Jack" Gillespie, 62, of North Scranton, died Thursday in Regional Hospital of Scranton. His wife of 42 years and high school sweetheart is Patricia McCarthy Gillespie.

Born in Scranton, he was a son of the late James Jr. and Ann Monahan Gillespie. A graduate of Scranton Technical High School, he was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, having served aboard the USS Kitty Hawk, and received an associates degree in architectural engineering from Penn State University after serving in the Navy. He was formerly employed by King Glass and was presently a estimator/project manager for Sterling Glass. He was a life member of the VFW.

Jack was a loving and caring husband, brother and friend to many. He will be fondly remembered and missed by all that knew him.

He is also survived by one brother, William Gillespie, Scranton, and Sandie Martin, Old Forge; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Ann Gillespie; a brother, James Gillespie III; and a brother-in-law, Mick McCarthy.

His funeral will be on Monday in the Edward Chomko, 254-268 Railroad Ave., West Scranton, with services at 9:30 a.m. by the Rev. Arthur Davis. Entombment with military honors will follow in Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.

Viewing for family and friends will be on Sunday, 3 to 7 p.m.
