Larry B. Ellett, 53, of Union Dale, died Thursday at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. His wife is the former Ronda Bishop. The couple had been married for 28 years.

Born in Hancock, N.Y., he was raised in Carbondale and graduated from Carbondale Area High School in 1978. Larry then served in the Army with the military police. He retired as a lieutenant with the state Department of Correction, SCI-Waymart. He was a member of Cottage Hose Ambulance for more than 30 years and an assistant fire chief at Pocono Raceway. He had been a member of St. Rose Parish, Carbondale. Larry was also the assistant women's softball and volleyball coach at Penn State University Worthington Scranton Campus.
He enjoyed camping, and was a loving husband and father.
He is also survived by two daughters, Nicole and Geri Ellett, both at home; nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Monday from the Joseph W. Scotchlas Funeral Home Inc., 621 Main St., Simpson, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 N. Church St., Carbondale.
Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
