Michael Jay Miller, 48, a 26-year resident of Elmhurst Twp., died Thursday, May 16, surrounded by his family after a short illness in Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton. He was the husband of Margaret A. "Peg" (Gergel) Miller.

Born in Martinsville, Va., he was the son of R. Jay Miller of Elmhurst Twp. and Patricia (Smyly) Taylor of Magnolia, Ala. Michael graduated from Toms River High School South in New Jersey and attended Brick Computer Science Institute in Brick, N.J. He was employed for 20 years as manager of John J. Michaels Memorial V.F.W. Post 5207 in Daleville and most recently at Wakefern Logistics in Gouldsboro. Michael was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church in Moscow.

He was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and loved to fish.

In addition to his wife and parents, Michael is survived by his beloved daughter, Kaitlyn L. Miller of Elmhurst Twp.; his brother, Matthew Miller and his wife, Michele, of South Toms River, N.J.; his special nephew, R. Jay Miller of South Toms River, N.J.; several brothers and sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 18, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Brian Arthur Strauch Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 3 First St., in Spring Brook Twp., PA 18444. Interment will be private.
