Vincent R. Walker, 88, formerly of Glenburn, died Saturday at Golden Living Center, Tunkhannock. His wife of 67 years is the former Anne M. Stuble.

Born Nov. 2, 1925, in Clinton Twp., Wyoming County, son of the late John W. and Ruth Detrick Walker, he was a 1942 graduate of Factoryville High School. He joined the Marine Corps in 1943, serving in the South Pacific, Okinawa and China, and was honorably discharged in 1946, receiving the Bronze Star, Chinese Cloud and the Banner Medal. He was recalled in 1950 during the Korean War and again honorably discharged in 1951. He was a member of Abington Heights School Authority, Factoryville Sportsmen's Club, NRA, Palace in the Pines hunting camp in Laquin, Pa., VFW Post 7069, Clarks Summit, past commander of the Factoryville Olin R. Wheelock American Legion Post 375, past president of the Scranton Lenders Exchange, member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, and manager at Signature Finance Consumer Discount Co. in Old Forge for 27 years as a loan officer. He later became a vice president at North Penn Savings and Loan before retirement.

Also surviving are a son, Larry and daughter-in-law, Elaine, Dalton; a granddaughter, Vanessa A. Weaver, Dallas, Pa.; a grandson, Vincent G. Walker, Hartford, Conn.; and a great-grandson, Gary Donald Weaver III.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Judith Dudley, on Aug. 23, 2003; and a sister, Jean Walker.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. from the Anthony P. Litwin Jr. Funeral Homes Inc., 33 Reynolds St., Factoryville, with Pastor Kim Bode officiating.
