William George Fuhr, 83, died Saturday morning at Regional Hospital of Scranton. He was the widower of Bernice "Bunny" Grabowski, who died Dec. 4, 2002.

Born in Throop, son of the late George H. and Emily Richardson, William graduated from Throop High School in 1949. He was a longstanding member of the Holy Name Society of St. Anthony's Church, currently the Blessed Sacrament Church of Throop. A lifelong resident of Throop, he served in the Korean War and was an honored volunteer firefighter for 50 years with Throop Hose Company 1.

A loving father, devoted husband and avid papinky hunter. He will be dearly missed.

Surviving are four sons, William and wife, Jeanine, Dickson City; Chester and wife, Melissa, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Kenneth and wife, Gina, Dickson City; and Jeffrey and wife, Anna, Throop; a brother, Robert, Throop; seven grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, George and Richard.

The funeral will be Thursday at 9 a.m. from the John F. Glinksy Funeral Home, 445 Sanderson St., Throop, with Mass at 9:30 in St. Anthony's Church. Interment, St. Anthony's Cemetery, Dickson City. Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. Rosary reciting will be at 6:30. Throop Hose Company will meet at 7.
