Marysville

Helen Alice Moak, 96, of Marysville, passed away Friday, April 25, 2014 in the Blue Water Hospice Home, Marysville.         

She was born August 9, 1917 in Yale to the late Charles and Jean Cavanagh.  She married Harry G. Moak on March 1, 1941 in Port Huron.  He preceded her in death on June 10, 2007.

Helen was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta at Michigan State University where she graduated with a teaching degree.  She was in their alumni group in Sun City, Arizona. She was a teacher for 22 years and retired from Thomas Edison Elementary School in 1981.  She enjoyed water color and china painting and working with stained glass.  She loved traveling to Ireland, Scotland, China, Paris, Holland and taught school while in Germany.

She is survived by her son, William (Nancy) Moak; her daughter, Elizabeth (Richard) Kinert; seven grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2014 in Smith Family Funeral Home-North, 1525 Hancock Street, Port Huron with visitation starting at 11:00 a.m.  A private family burial will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made to Blue Water Hospice Home, Marysville.
