James M. Casler, Jr.

Marine City

James M. Casler, Jr., 71, of Marine City, died Tuesday, December 3, 2013. He was born July 12, 1942 in Detroit to the late James & Ida Casler. James honorably served his country in the US Army and later served his community as a police officer with both Ira Township from 1980-'82 and Clay Township from 1982 - 2001. He was a member of the Living Faith Lutheran Church and the Fraternal Order of Police, 185 Robert J Christy Lodge in Algonac. James was known for his sense of humor and was a devoted father. His family remembers Jim talking about his younger years and singing in a local band. He also enjoyed collecting rocks.

He is survived by his children, Heather (Joe) Dalessio of China and Zachary Casler of Algonac; two grandsons, Cameron and Dominic; a sister, Maurine (Thomas) Springborn of East China; his nephew, David James Springborn and niece, Amy Jo Stablein.

The family would like to thank the staff at St. Clair Medilodge for their wonderful help.

Visitation will be held from 3-8 p.m. Sunday in the Bower-Rose Funeral Home, Marine City and Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at church. A time of remembrance and honor will begin at 6:30 p.m. Sunday with Reverend Gerhardt Doroh officiating and military honors conducted under the auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2013 in Fellowship Baptist Church. Pastor Dave Bunyan will officiate. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital.
