Orville L. Harrison


Orville L. Harrison, 91, of Cooks, Michigan died October 11, 2013 at the Schoolcraft Medical Care Facility in Manistique.

He was born September 17, 1922 in Worth Township, Sanilac County, Michigan the son of Elmer and Mildred (Dobbyn) Harrison and graduated from high school in Yale, Michigan.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Merchant Marines.

On August 1, 1952 he married the former Ollie J. Eldridge in Wyandotte, MI.  They lived in the Detroit, Taylor and Garden City, Michigan areas before moving to Cooks in 1986 following retirement.

Orville was employed by General Motors as a stationary engineer at their Cadillac Plant in Detroit.

Orville is survived by his wife, Ollie J. Harrison of Cooks; son Eddy C. Harrison of Cooks; daughter, Alice (Dennis) Wallot of Wayne, MI; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; brother, Ronald (Beverly) Harrison of Croswell, MI and Cecil (Barbara) Harrison of Jeddo, MI; sisters, Avis Hale of Port Huron and Aleitha Johnson of Paw Paw, MI; along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Wendell and Keith Harrison; and his sister, Wylla Courtney.

Visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00 pm, Monday, October 14, 2013 at the Messier-Broullire Funeral Home in Manistique.  Funeral services will follow at 3:00 pm, at the funeral home with Pastor Joseph Crowder officiating.

Burial and graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at the New Berlin Cemetery in Berville, Michigan.
