Robert Thomas King, Jr. North Grafton, MA 1947-2013 After a long and courageous struggle with multiple health conditions, Robert Thomas King, Jr., 65, of North Grafton, MA, went home to be with his King at 4:30 AM, Wednesday, August 15, 2013 at University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, MA. He was born December 15, 1947 in Port Huron, Michigan to Robert T. King, Sr. and Thelma Oile who preceded him in death. He married Cheryl Lynn Wilson on November 25, 1972 and she survives. Also surviving are his children, Robert Thomas King, III (Ella) of Morgantown, Indiana, Joyell Briana King of Grand Rapids, MI, and Dawn Patrice King of Port Huron, MI, six grandchildren, Noai Jacob, Cameron Tyler, Isaiah Thomas, Isabelle Grace, Frank William Edwards III, Robert Angelo Edwards, one great grandchild, six sisters, Wanda Caldwell (Ray), Rochelle Howell and Regina Oile all of Port Huron, MI, Saundra Wameyo of Sterling Heights, MI, Vera Portis of Southfield, MI., and Ola (Beci) Oile of Grand Rapids, MI, mother-in- law, Delores K. Wilson, sisters-in-law, Constance Ann Snow (Willie) of Saginaw, MI, and Kimberly Kay Bond of Grand Rapids, MI, brother-in-law, James A. Wilson, Jr. of Louisville, KY and a host of dearly loved nieces, nephews, and cousins. Robert's brother Michael James King and brother-in-law Gary Bond preceded him in death. Robert attended Port Huron high school. He was a decorated veteran of the United States Army serving with distinction in Vietnam (1968-1970). He earned a BA from Michigan State University and lived most of his adult life in Grand Rapids, MI where he served as a teacher and principal before moving to North Grafton, MA. In addition to his family, things that Robert loved most included fishing, cooking, reading, video games (with the grandchildren) and movies (sci-fi). He was a member of the National Supreme Council, A & A Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, Lodge 160, in Grand Rapids, MI. The family will welcome visitors on Wednesday, August 21 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. The memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at the Ivy K. Gillespie Moody Memorial Chapel, 1865 Eastern Avenue, SE, Grand Rapids, MI with burial immediately following at Woodlawn Cemetery, 2530 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Grand Rapids, MI. The family wishes to acknowledge the excellent care that Robert has received over the past 10 years from his physicians, nurses, and the healthcare team at Blackstone Valley Dialysis Center in Milford, MA.
