Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mr. Carol Lee Fitzgerald will be held 12 p.m., Wednesday, July 25, 2012, in the chapel of John Kramer & Son with Dr. Steve Speer officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Memorial Park, Pineville, under the direction of John Kramer & Son.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until time of service, Wednesday, at John Kramer & Son.

Mr. Fitzgerald, 73, was a native of Rush Springs, Oklahoma and a resident of Alexandria for the past 42 years. He retired from the United States Postal Service in 1992 and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a member of Woodmen of the World and numerous square dance organizations.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Roy and Lavada Fitzgerald; his sister, Wilma Fitzgerald Mares; and his brother, Harvey Fitzgerald.

He is survived by his best friend and wife of 20 years, Mary Lee Fitzgerald; his sons, Jeffrey Fitzgerald and wife, Pamala of Elmer and Josh Randall McMichael and his wife, Penni of Lexington, Virginia; his daughters, Monya Lynn McMichael of Lexington, Virginia; Karen Kjar of Baton Rouge and Cheri Fitzgerald of Baton Rouge; his sisters, LaRoyce Brown, Lois Bray, Tana Cummings, Ava Blumer, Vickey Moore and Jeanita Papayik; and his grandchildren, Cody Fitzgerald, Haley Fitzgerald, Taylor McMichael, Hunter McMichael, Terri Dungan, Aaron Kjar, Ryan Kjar, and Logan Kjar.

Pallbearers will be Jody DePriest, Curtis Lassere, Jacob Butterfield, Josh McMichael, Jody Grabowski, and Samuel Shamblin. Cody Fitzgerald will be an honorary pallbearer.
