CMSGT (Retired) Roger Wayne Morehouse

Roger Wayne Morehouse, 72, of Boyce, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at home with family at his side after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Services for Mr. Morehouse will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2013 in the chapel of John & Son with Rev. Ray Wells officiating. Interment will be in Alexandria Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2013 and again on Tuesday from 8:30 until the time of the service at John Kramer & Son.

He is preceded in death by both of his parents, Lloyd and Lillian Morehouse; one brother, Lowell Morehouse; one sister Beverly Bonn and one brother-in-law, Gene Steffes.

He was born and raised in Bristol, South Dakota. Roger joined the United States Air Force where he achieved the highest rank possible for an enlisted man. He was stationed at ten different bases around the United States and other countries. He also served a tour in Vietnam. He retired from the United States Air Force after twenty-six years. He was last stationed at England Air Force Base, Alexandria, LA where he retired. After his retirement he went to work at the V.A. Hospital where he worked in the Payroll Department with twenty years of employment. Roger loved working in his lawn and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing. He most loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, family and friends.

Blessed to have shared Roger's life include his wife of fifty- two years Audrey Ann Morehouse, their children: Timothy Wayne Morehouse and wife Theresa of Reisel, Texas, Michael Wayne Morehouse and wife Denita of Woodworth, Becci Schwarz and husband Daniel of Alexandria, VA and Roberta Shipp and husband Bob of Hewitt, Texas; his grandchildren: Thomas, Hunter, Colton and Parker Morehouse, Amber Shipp and EricaMcKay and her husband Ray; his great grandchildren: Dylan and Chase Fissel and Tripp McKay. Roger is also survived by his siblings: Donald Morehouse and wife Julie of Bodfish, CA; Joan Steffes of Bristol, SD; Lyle Morehouse and wife Lyn of Spokane, WA; Janice Kroll of Shoreline, WA; Gary Morehouse and wife Wanda of Aberdeen, SD; Marialice Arndt and husband Richard of Duluth, MN; Marlys Enstad and husband Keith of Watertown, SD; Marlene Nelson and husband Leroy of Langford, SD; and Marsha Payne and husband Al of North Pole, AK; one sister-in-law, Fran Morehouse of Bristol, SD.

Pallbearers honored to serve will be the Retired Chiefs group.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt gratitude to all the wonderful staff at MD Anderson, Dr. Wold's and Dr. Sanghani's offices, Rapides Hospital Oncology Floor, St. Joseph's Hospice and anyone else who took care of our husband/father. Your care and love for Dad meant more to our family than you can know. Please remember that each and every one of you are greatly appreciated and respected by our family.
