Dewitt William "Bill" Gallineau

Dewitt Gallineau, 89, of Alexandria, passed away December 31, 2012 at Rapides Regional Medical Center.

Bill, as he was known, was a member of the American Legion, and retired with 30 years combined, active servicein the U. S. Air Force and Navy.Mr. Gallineau was a WWII veteran serving a sa Naval corpsman, a Vietnam veteran serving as an Air Force medic for two tours, and survived both the Attack on Pearl Harbor and Battle of Guadal canal. While serving his country, he was stationed in Argentina, Australia, China, England, Fiji Islands, Japan, NewZealand, South Korea, Turkey, and Vietnam.

Bill loved to spend time with his great grandkids as well as traveling, relaxing outdoors, and enjoying nature.

He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Opal Bernice Gallineau; sons, Daniel Gallineau (Janet), Donald Gallineau (Debra), Ricky Gallineau; grandchildren, Danny Gallineau (Wendy) and Nathan Gallineau; great grandchildren, Olivia, Bailey, Addison, Bryce, and Aria; and brother, Neil Gallineau. He is preceded in death by his parents, Percy Gallineau and Evelyn Gallineau Wanet; stepfather, Joe Wanet; son, Gerald Gallineau; and brother, Milton Gallineau.
