Edman "Just John" Landry

Edman "Just John" Landry passed away at his Mountain Home, TX residence October 9, 2013 after a short battle with cancer.

John was born June 8, 1929 in Nederland, TX. John joined the Army early serving during World War II, he only served a short time before he was hurt and had to return home. He was a Tug boat captain for many years and worked in East Texas in the ship yards. He moved his family to Louisiana working and retiring from International Paper Company as a multi-craft mechanic. He was an avid rock collector, traveling all over the country with his family hunting for gems and minerals. He and Audrey were owners of The Marfa Rock shop in Mountain Home, TX. He was active in the Fredericksburg Rockhound Association and enjoyed teaching his grandkids and others what he knew about rocks. He was known for playing Santa Claus for the area nursing homes and schools. John never met a stranger and was always giving out his smiley rocks to everyone.

He was preceded in death by his parents Aline Marie Romero Landry Callahan, Octave J. Landry and step father Wilbert 'Dee' Callahan, brother Frank Plaisee Landry, grandson Nathan Landry and granddaughter Michelle Renee Franks.

He is survived by his wife of 55 yrs., Audrey Lee Dupre Landry of Mountain Home, TX. Brothers Octave J "OJ" Landry of Houma, LA; Joseph Landry of Houma, LA; George Landry of Ft. Smith, AK; Daughters Naomi Xan Stewart (Michael) of Mountain Home, TX; Teena Marie Franks (Eddie) of Mountain Home, TX; Donna Jean Richards (Tom) of Marshville, NC; Lottie Sue McNeely (Tres) of Pineville, LA; Charlotte Ann Landry Barcelo (Jeff) of Holbrook, MA; Sons Bruce Wayne Landry (Tammy) of Puyallup, WA; Samuel Joseph Landry of Montana. Twenty Six grandchildren; Twenty One great grandchildren; Four great great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, in- laws and friends.

He will be missed by many but he is now passing his smiley rocks to the angels above. Family would like to thank Dr. Michael Speck, Dr. Rebecca Barrington and Peterson Hospice for their support. Memorials can be made in his name to or Peterson Hospice.
